The head pastor of Heaven’s Gate Ministry, Prophet Nicholas Osei popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has asked government to fully lift the ban on church activities so Ghanaians can pray to God to save the country from COVID-19.

Speaking in a phone interview with Rev. Nyansa Boakwa on Happy FM’s religious and social programme Nsem Pii, he stated that if the safety measures put in place were enough to save the populace, then America and other countries would not have recorded thousands of cases daily.

“The government should allow us to go to church to pray because, with God, all things are possible as said in Luke 1:37. God listens to the prayers of his children so if there’s a pandemic like this, we must not copy what others are doing.”

“You made us believe that social distancing, washing our hands, wearing nose masks and using hand sanitizers is what will prevent the spread of the virus but if it was so, America and Italy wouldn’t have recorded 5000 and 3000 deaths in a day”, he said.

According to him, it is good to observe the safety protocols, however, the

government must fully allow churches to operate so that Ghanaians can pray fervently to God to see us through these dire times because safety protocols alone cannot save us.

“If you read James chapter 5:13-17, it says that the prayer of the righteous can do a lot but in Ghana, if you say what you think is right and it is in favour of a political party, they will sew and clothe you in a political suit and say you are in support of them. This is why a lot of pastors cannot complain”, Kumchacha concluded.
